Breakfast Creek Hotel

The Breakfast Creek Hotel is arguably the most famous watering hole in Queensland and probably one of the top two or three in the country. It’s more than just a venue – it’s a major destination in Brisbane, one of the best-loved in the city.
Members of the Cavill family leased the hotel for a long period, more than 70 years, much longer than the traditional period of a hotel lease. Much of the hotel’s popularity can be attributed to the stability of these lessees, which allowed traditions to develop and generated the goodwill which is essential to the success of any business.

Museums and Art Galleries
The Old Museum

The Old Museum has been the site of cultural and educational facilities for over 125 years. The building was constructed in 1891 for the Queensland National Agricultural and Industrial Association. Due to financial problems encountered by the Association, the State Government took over the building in 1897 and leased the concert hall to the Brisbane City Council until the Brisbane City Hall was completed in 1930. From 1891 to 1930, the Old Museum Concert Hall was the main venue for concerts in Brisbane, including recitals by Dame Nellie Melba and Ignaz Paderewski.

FireWorks Gallery – known for exhibiting and promoting artworks by some of Australia’s best contemporary artists – is located in a renovated concrete warehouse, featuring an impressive double-storey void, at 9/31 Thompson Street, Bowen Hills.

Miegunyah
